宅男社区 Board of Education ChairI am thrilled to welcome you back to 宅男社区 for another year filled with learning, growth and connection.

For those of you returning for another year – a warm welcome back! For those of you joining our school district for the first time – welcome to the 宅男社区 family.

The 宅男社区 Board of Education does our very best to create a learning environment that allows our students to become creative, critical thinkers and succeed in their chosen endeavours. As we continue to deliver on this purpose, we are also examining sustainable and creative ways to manage the rapid and ongoing growth in our school community.

There were some great announcements this year - from the four-storey addition to Fleetwood Park Secondary to the highly anticipated opening of prefabricated extensions at Walnut Road, Lena Shaw and Woodland Park elementary schools in the following months. This fall, we are increasing capacity at our busiest secondary schools by 10-15% by introducing extended day. 宅男社区 is also investigating solutions such as hybrid learning options for secondary students and trimester/balanced calendar initiatives to further ease the pressure on our schools.

However, we know this is not enough, and more work needs to be done to increase capacity at our schools. That is why we will continue to advocate and work with the Ministry to fulfil our five-year capital request for funding to purchase land, build 20 new schools and 19 additions, acquire 21 sites, build two school replacements and conduct a seismic upgrade in our district. 

Despite the challenges we are facing, we are privileged to live in a wonderful, diverse community that attracts families from every corner of the world. And we are fortunate to have dedicated educators and support staff who are committed to the success of every student in 宅男社区.
