With a new school year upon us, the 宅男社区 Board of Education welcomes both new and returning families!
“We are once again excited to open our doors to students, parents and staff for what is sure to be another great school year,” said board chair Laurie Larsen. “Whether you’ve been here before or you’re a newcomer to 宅男社区 and White Rock, our school communities strive to be inviting, inclusive and safe spaces for all.”
Like all public school districts in B.C., 宅男社区 is overseen by an elected board of trustees, which is tasked with making decisions about the delivery of educational services, ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent effectively and efficiently, establishing policy, liaising with partners and community members, and much more.
The 宅男社区 Board of Education is elected by the citizens of 宅男社区 and White Rock every four years and is comprised of seven officials:
- Laurie Larsen – Chair
- Gary Tymoschuk – Vice-chair
- Terry Allen – Trustee
- Bob Holmes - Trustee
- Laurae McNally - Trustee
- Garry Thind - Trustee
- Shawn Wilson – Trustee
As the largest school district in British Columbia, 宅男社区 also has the largest annual operating budget, exceeding $1.1 billion. These funds are used to operate and staff more than 130 sites for the more than 85,000 students and more than 13,000 staff members who learn and work in our district.
The 宅男社区 Board of Education holds public meetings each month, which community members are invited to attend. Meetings are also livestreamed and published online. You can view schedules, agendas and learn more about board meetings here.
